Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser

Double-cleansing and I go way back. This extra step in one’s skincare regime has been in mine since I hit puberty (I hit puberty pretty early in life) and that’s when I noticed little bumps growing on my once baby soft skin.

I’m like a kepoh (busybody) auntie who goes round telling others to double-cleanse if they ever ask me about my skincare routine. This is because your skin will not be able to absorb all the lovely serums / products you apply onto it should you not cleanse it well beforehand.

Then comes in a lot of blessings. I am incredibly blessed to have someone like Stephanie in my life. This lovely sister from another mister produced this as a gift when we met up sometime last year. =)

What’s on my mind #2

Time for another What’s on My Mind session! It’s been a lot better this month, everything-wise.

Today, I figured I didn’t want to put up a “list of lusts” as I did in last month’s edition because… I have been really blessed with many gifts this month and I myself did buy something I’ve wanted for quite a while now!

I have a collection of really old mechanical watches. All of them were gifts from my parents who love collecting such watches. Sadly, many of them have stopped working and finding someone who is able to fix them is even harder. I went watch-less for a good year or so but I really wanted an automatic watch that would go the distance.

As luck would have it, I was walking around The Gardens Mall post-facial and a watch shop caught my eye. I never usually eye Seiko watches, nor any watch brand in particular as I’m just not that into them but this one caught my eye:

MAC Archie’s Girls Collection: Oh, Oh, Oh Lipstick (Betty)

MAC Archie's Girls Oh, Oh, Oh Lipstick

Oh, Oh OH no! Was my reaction when I first set my eyes on MAC’s Oh, Oh, Oh lipstick.

Instead, I was drawn towards Betty Bright, a vibrant peach / coral shade. Mum, however had second thoughts about it and insisted I tried Betty Bright on before purchasing it. So I did.

To my astonishment, Betty Bright did not look good on me! Mum then pointed at this one:

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF50

Ack! The sun is up again! No! I’ll sparkle ala Edward Cullen!!!!

Alas, I am human. No, I do not drink blood. But my skin takes on a vampiric mood when it comes in contact with the sun. Unfortunately, I do not sparkle. Wish I did though! That’d be so cool but anyway… I turn red as a beet and then, my skin starts to peel.

I’ve always been sun-sensitive. I recall many of my childhood days where my Mum would grab hold of me and slather Banana Boat (I think that’s what she used to buy) sunscreen all over my body (and face, the horror) before I went to school. This went on for years until my dermatologist recommended this sunscreen:

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: A major compilation of photos!

Hi lovelies! I see I haven’t done a Trigger-Happy post in so long! High time I brought it back!!

As I do have a lot of back-dated *cough* Instagram *cough* photos, please allow (and pardon) me to do so! Some of these shots are ever so dear to me so I thought I’d just put them up here for those of you who do not follow me on Twitter / Instagram!

Bifesta Cleansing Express Sebum Cleansing Lotion

Water-based cleansers. Mention them in the beauty blogging world and one brand immediately comes to mind: Bioderma.

Unfortunately, Bioderma isn't easily available in Malaysia. I have seen it in Watsons when I was in Thailand. I can't quite say the same about Singapore as I have not visited in many years!

Closer home, and easily available comes the Bifesta range of water-based cleansers!

There are different ranges to the Bifesta Cleansing Express Cleansing Lotions to cater to various skin types but I have the Sebum variant today, which leans towards combination / oily skin!

March Favourites!

What better to follow up after an Empties post with a monthly favourites? ;)

Last month, has been what I call a very “hot” month. With a ton of speculations on when the elections will be held right down to me suffering from a serious case of heat rash thanks to the extremely crazy weather, here's what I've been loving to keep cool!

I've been trying to go natural as it's so hot and my oily skin tends to make foundation slide off my face. I'm also trying my hardest not to use too much of my favourite MUFE HD primer as I'm running out!

March Empties!

Hello! It's been a good week into April and I apologise for the tardiness! :p March has been a pretty good month in terms of empties as I have used up quite a few products!

Before I move on to the post, I would like to point out that I have already come to the very last squeeze of my SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser but it did not make it to the group photo of empties as Mum popped it into the bin before I could say….

NNNOOOOOoOoOOO!!!

Haul, although I really shouldn’t have!

It all started with me having itchy fingers. This haul happened in one day (yesterday) when I was out in the city. A rare feat, especially for a weekend since my work now requires me to work certain, if not most weekends.

I have the dear Lily of ChloeAsh to thank for the Dior items you will be seeing in the photo.

Before I proceed, here’s the damage done:

20130406-231116.jpg

I really shouldn’t have. O.o

You must be thinking: Are you out of your mind, Sukie? Two cleansing oils? Seriously?

Well…… I have been tempted to try these two cleansing oils Shiseido has to offer for quite a while now and Watsons was doing a 10% discount on the range. Decided to grab both to try out at the same time as my favourite Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil is running out. May the best oil win!

I then blame my itchy fingers for searching Biore’s UV Aqua Rich Watery BB Water Base.

It has SPF50, the texture’s really light and airy and oh my goodness the shade!! It takes on a really light beige colour (same colour as the tube, to my eye) and blended completely into my skin. My arm, to be precise.

I am sold. I will be trying this out over the next couple of days and I’m really, really hoping it won’t break me out!

Onto the Dior stuff. Lily raves so much about the Capture Totale Eyes Essential Serum. I got it. And I hope this will finally sort out my major eye sack issue.

Then came the gloss. It’s Spring (or technically should be spring in the UK), hence the Spring Ball lipgloss. Okay, I jest.

I’ve always wanted to own a Dior lipgloss. Lemming fulfilled today. :)

There are a couple more things I bagged today but they are little samples in which I shall talk about them… Come another day.

Happy Sunday, folks and be grateful you are happily lazing at home while some people (a.k.a yours truly) has to head to work! :)

Another travel essentials post!

Hello lovelies!!

I’m currently blogging with my phone, via the WordPress app so I have no idea if the post will look ok once posted *fingers crossed*!

Right now, I’m “roasting” at my grandma’s place up north. It’s so hot (we arrived early today) and humid that I think I could actually melt and turn into a puddle of lard. It really is that hot!

Also, it’s lovely taking time off work and being away from home for a bit! I’m really thankful my grandmothers are still around, so coming to visit them’s a brilliant excuse, if you like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

Again, I did my very best to travel light today, you can see my other travel essentials posts here and here :p

Lets start with skin care! Here’s what I packed:

20130402-170658.jpg

1. Guerlain Secret de Purete Cleansing Cream
I’m pretty bold this time round! I do not usually test stuff out while I’m on holiday for fear of breaking out badly. I shall report back in one of my Sampling Sunday post! :)

2. Origins Modern Friction scrub
I have reviewed this quite some time ago (here) and this came as a GWP. I now use this as a diluted scrub and it works really well when I’m on holiday as it gets rid of all those grimy bits of dirt left on my face. Believe me, coming to my hometown always makes my face feel rather greasy + clogged up so this is a lifesaver!

3. SK-II Cellumination Mask-in-Lotion

A quick and moisturising lotion that works wonder for me! It softens my skin like no other and it doesn’t break me out! :)

4. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream
Light, moisturising, good price. Can’t go wrong with this one! I use it in the daytime only as the last thing I want is for me to be stuck with an oily T-Zone before noon!

5. Creme de La Mer moisturising soft cream
A sample I bagged from the lovely SA at Fenwick’s last September. Only giving it a go now and I think I am in love!

6. Shiseido Perfect UV protector

I never go anywhere without this. I have backups of backups of this product. Nuff’ said. ;)

7. SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge EX
I received a sample of this as the SK-II SA recommended it to me. Didn’t realise I packed more than one moisturizer! #badpacker

8. Clinique Even Better Eyes dark circle corrector
Still trying this out. Early days but I think this product and I can actually be more than just friends.

9. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
Potent stuff, this one. Broke me out a few years ago but it seems to be working oh-so-fine for me now.

10. SK-II Facial Treatment Lotion
A need when I travel. This removes every last bit of makeup / grime I’ve got on my face.

11. Cellnique’s Soothing Hydrating Lotion (in little spray bottle)

I love this. Love, love, love, love love this. Thanks, soulmate!

12. SK-II Facial Treatment Cleanser
Another fav. I used to be the kind of girl who didn’t think pricey cleansers would be worth the money but this one changed my mind. Check it out here!

13. Clinique’s Take the Day Off eye makeup remover
Another deluxe-sized sample I never quite got down to using. This is the second (out of four) that I’ve got. I can’t say I love this as it does make my eyesight go a bit blurry but it does the job and doesn’t irritate my eyes.

Moving on to the fun bit now: Make up!

20130402-205650.jpg

1. Guerlain Parure de Nuit powder & blush

Again, using this for the first time. Don’t know what got to me early today! I picked it out of it’s box just as I was about to leave for the airport. It’s lovely. So pretty. I use it as an all-over face powder and blush!

2. Clinique Chubby Stick 04 Mega Melon

Goodness! What took me so long! I now have two Chubby Stick Intense-s and one regular one and I think I like the original formulation better! I need more of these in my life! :D

3. Guerlain L’or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold
Sigh. Looking at this makes me miss Fenwick’s even more. Jackie (my favourite Guerlain SA ever) gave this (and a couple other stuff) to me just as I was leaving the UK. :’) Again, first time I’m using this! I’m now a little worried I’ll go home with a face-ful of irritated skin!

4. Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile edp
*smells self* this is seriously good stuff. Need to get more than just one tiny vial! :D

5. BareMinerals Ready eyeshadow duo

Another travesty! I can’t remember the name of this eyeshadow duo (I’m not with my makeup at the moment, sorry!) but yes, I will update it as soon as I’m reunited with it! Also, I didn’t bring an eye primer. The horror.

6. SK-II Facial Treatment Cream Foundation in shade 310
I wore this without primer in the morning. When I say morning, I mean before the break of dawn (5am). I was going to take a shower at 2pm when I looked at the mirror. No sign of any bits sliding off. Impressed I am.

7. Shiseido Perfect Mascara Defining Volume
I promised my grandma I would put in a little more effort into the way I dress when I’m visiting her. To be honest, I don’t really bother with any make up when I’m visiting the grannies as it’s so very hot here and I just can’t be bothered as there is little to no chance that I’ll bump into someone I know all the way up here! This time, I thought I should make it a point to brush some mascara through my lashes. :p

8. Shu Uemura eyelash curler
Still happily curling my lashes with this one!

9. Creme de La mer The Radiant Concealer in Light
My HG concealer. The one concealer that rules them all (in my opinion, at least). You may have a look at the review here :)

Finally! I hope you enjoyed reading this! :)

Thought I’d end the post with a photo of grandma and I (minimal makeup, just the Sk-II foundation and the Parure de Nuit powder with a quick slick of Clinique’s Chubby Stick!). This was taken in the afternoon without any filters. I look really hot and bothered but just so happy to see her! I forgot to take one with my other grandma +___+ but there’s always another time! :)
