Trigger-Happy Thursdays: Dior Beauty Workshop

Update: Sorry this post didn’t get to see daylight yesterday! Was caught up with work and I forgot I still needed to tweak this post a little bit! +__+

Hello!! I thought I’d stay away from posting the usual photos and go on about a lovely little event I attended two Saturdays ago.

Lily blogged about an hour-long, one-to-one Dior workshop not too long ago where all we had to do is purchase a RM250 voucher (fully redeemable) and a doorgift would be presented to us (samples of one of their lipsticks and concealer, housed in a petite makeup pouch). There was a little bonus here as the first 10 people to e-mail Dior with the password ChloeAsh would receive a full-sized lipstick on top of everything else.

Needless to say, I jumped on it! After all, I was really looking forward to having this private session with a makeup artist as I have so many unanswered questions!

I was paired with Zaidi, whose hands worked magic all over my face, gently dabbing, dusting, smoothing… You get the idea.

Zaidi started everything off by removing my makeup. He used Dior’s Instant Cleansing Water to remove the makeup from my face.

One thing I noted about Dior’s products is that all of them smell really fresh. Not floral, but fresh. The Cleansing Water was no different. I was amazed at how everything came off in one swipe!

After cleansing my skin, he took a good long look at me and said that he would be using the Dior Hydra Life’s range on me. Then, some Moist and Fix was spritz onto my face. Zaidi says that this product can be used as a toner and a setting spray.

After that, The One Essential Eye Serum was used to detoxify my undereye area (really needed it) and some eye cream – Dior Capture Total Multi-Perfection Eye Treatment. They felt really comfortable around my eye area and it didn’t make me feel weighed down / tacky.

Then, some Hydra Life serum was applied all over my face (I’m sorry, I forgot what serum was used) before the Emulsion Serum (a lightweight moisturiser) was layered on.

Now, onto makeup! Zaidi took one look at my skin and said that my skintone would fit the shade 010 perfectly. Referring to my previous post where I reviewed the Diorskin Nude Foundation, I was rather taken aback as I felt that 011 was my correct shade. Lily also kindly pointed out that 011 is indeed my shade as I was matched to it while in Ipoh with her. =)

I didn’t want to say otherwise so I let Zaidi do his thing. First, he prepped my skin with the Capture Totale Multi-Perfection Makeup Base before applying the Diorskin Nude Foundation in shade 010. Some Skinflash was applied to my eye sacks and below my eyebrows as it “brightens the eye area and hides ungroomed brows”.

Zaidi then asked if I wanted a day / night look. I opted for day as I wanted a look I can pull off both day and night. He then whipped out Dior’s new Mono shadows in Tweed and Ribbon.

One little tip I found out is that Skinflash can be used as an eyeshadow primer!

Zaidi first used Tweed all over my eyelids and simply blended the single shade out. The depth this shadow gives is lovely! I term it taupe as it takes on a mauvey / rose shade with quite a bit of shimmer. Ribbon was then used to blend away any harsh edges as well as at the inner corners of my eyes. The MUA then tightlined my eyes ever so slightly with a pencil eyeliner.  Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara was then used on my lashes sans eyelash curler. Now… I was wondering why he didn’t use an eyelash curler. Zaidi claimed that the mascara would curl my eyelashes already but sadly on my straight lashes, it didn’t.

Brows were then drawn, albeit a little too much for my personal liking with a brown brow pencil.

Base makeup was set with the Diorsnow Loose Powder. The powder is pink but gave my complexion such a beautiful glow. I have a feeling I may stray from my beloved Meteorites and give this a go. =p Maybe. Zaidi insisted on using the Rosy Glow Awakening Blush on me as he felt the end result would flatter my skin well. And it did!

Lips were first plumped up with the Lip Maximier  then lined. Dior Springball lipstick and lipgloss were then applied. I couldn’t resist the lipgloss so it came home with me. =p

Just to summarise this wordy post, here’s a photo of all the items that were used on my face:

Dior workshop Kuala Lumpur

I certainly did enjoy my outing very much although the parents were rather shocked, and a little put off by how dark and thick my brows were drawn. The brows made me look rather comical so I will not be posting a photo!

In all, I really enjoyed the day out. Zaidi was lovely and accommodating, the Dior counter staff were friendly and on an unrelated note, I had Mum and Dad all to myself on that lovely day out! =p

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: A major compilation of photos!

Hi lovelies! I see I haven’t done a Trigger-Happy post in so long! High time I brought it back!!

As I do have a lot of back-dated *cough* Instagram *cough* photos, please allow (and pardon) me to do so! Some of these shots are ever so dear to me so I thought I’d just put them up here for those of you who do not follow me on Twitter / Instagram!

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: Seeing Double!

Hello lovelies! It’s nearly December now which means my monthly empties post would be put up soon-ish! This month, I have found a few products to be nearing their end as I come so close to using them up. Also, being monthly favourites (or daily staples), a few shopping trips were done where I repurchased some of these favourites.

I thought I’d quickly share them with you today in place of my usual Trigger-Happy Thursdays post where I put up random photos that may not interest some of you. ;) However, I do post photos on a daily basis via my Instagram account here so feel free to check them out and follow me if you like! =D

Kicking off today’s post is a gift from my fellow #soulmate Steph who needs no introduction. Lovely Stephanie sent me a parcel filled with goodies when I was still in the UK and this was one of the many items she sent!

Cellnique’s Soothing and Hydrating Lotion which I reviewed earlier here. Close to 4 months later I used up every single drop of this and I liked it so much that I bugged Mum to get me another! =D This costs RM79 so it doesn’t do too much damage to the wallet. I’m actually tempted to try Melvita’s Floral Waters but I liked this so much that I just had to repurchase it. ;)

Shiseido’s Perfect UV Protector is a product I swear by. I am currently in the process of using up my third bottle and moving on to the fourth. Having used this since early this year (February/March), this is the best sunscreen I have used up to now and I have been through many sunscreens from various brands as my skin cannot live without it. I will not go on and rave about this product as I can go on and on all day. If you haven’t tried this, please give it a go!

Ah, an old favourite: L’occitane’s Lavender Vinegar. I am coming to the end of my second last bottle and I am incredibly nervous about using the final bottle up! This product has been discontinued and I will be sad to see this leave my table for good. :’( This works on the odd breakout but did not do anything for the severe breakout my skin went through. Still, it smells lovely – if you like the scent of lavender, that is. =D

The only mascara that doesn’t harm / irritate my eyes to date: Shiseido’s Perfect Mascara Defining Volume. I still have quite a bit left in my old tube but thought I should purchase a spare ‘just in case.’ This stuff rocks my boat: minimal next to no smudges at all, holds the curl and lasts all day. Only gripe? It can be a bit of a pain to remove. Without this lovely mascara I doubt I can ever bring myself to even curl my lashes, what more apply mascara.

Another staple! My all-time favourite hand sanitiser. Ever. I’m typing this and wondering why I do I sound like a bimbo. Anyway, I think it’s due to the fact that these are products I love so much and I can’t stop gushing about them like a child so bear with me, lovelies! The L’occitane Lavender Hand Purifying Gel smells heavenly and is non-drying. Most hand sanitisers I’ve used smell so strongly of alcohol and my hands feel taut and dry after use but this one doesn’t. Mum and I were once stuck in a place that smelt of smoke and she asked for a squirt of this for her to ‘breathe properly.’ Haha! I’m doing my best to squeeze the very last bits out before I move on to my spanking new tube. Before you think this costs loads and would not last very long, allow me to point out that I have used this close to a year with near daily use. I also share this with friends and family before we tuck into meals so it has gone a very long way for me.

These are the products I have repurchased this month and it’s quite an achievement for the fickle me who likes trying out new items! Have you repurchased anything this month? ;)

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: A Gentle Reminder!

Hello lovelies! This week’s Trigger-Happy column is pretty much a filler post because I haven’t taken that many photos over the last week to churn out a proper post. ;)

Of course, there’s always a but. =p Since coming home to sunny Malaysia, I have re-discovered the importance of a certain product:

Sunscreen! This is my current sunscreen stash, some of which are already empty. Extra brownie points to those who manage to point the empties out to me! I have been using quite a bit of sunscreen as I’ve been travelling loads, spending most of my time in a car but I do feel the heat even in a car with nicely tinted windows. Having a layer of sunscreen on my body (arms and neck, especially) has kept me pretty much burn-free for now so I thought I’d gently remind all you lovely people to wear sunscreen as to prevent your skin from ageing prematurely!

p/s: The only sunscreen I use on my face is the fantastic Shiseido Perfect UV Protector . What’s your favourite sunscreen? =)

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: Foodie Getaways! =D

I have been gorging myself a little too much lately so this week’s column will mostly be about food! =D Two weeks ago, we headed up to Genting Highlands for some cool air and Dim Sum, one of my many favourite foods:

My birthday clutch is seen in the foreground as I took it to show the boyfriend this pretty clutch is going places! =D

Speaking of going places…..

We have been going places thanks to my brother’s professional driving skills! I’ve been spending the last week in Ipoh, meeting up with Lily who kindly played tour guide and even presented me with two beautiful birthday gifts that I’ve been wearing everyday since receiving them:

Lily’s fab at selecting lip colours and I’ve never been happier as I have never owned anything from Dior so having two different lippies from the brand made me hyperventilate quite a bit. Thank you dear!

Since we were around the area, we dropped by Lumut for the day and stumbled upon this homemade noodle shop:

Then there’s the bubble tea craze that has not died out yet! This is old news but I was hanging around KLCC one day and we found a new Bubble tea shop. They had an opening offer where a glass of bubble tea only costs RM2. Naturally, I jumped at the offer!

Final random photo of the day. Also in Lumut, we found a Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia (a convenience store catered to the citizens of Malaysia) and I couldn’t help but giggle at the packaging:

We walked out empty handed. ;) Have you been to any of these stores?

Also, we have a winner for my little giveaway! The gift goes to Gin so congratulations Gin! <3

Trigger-Happy Thursday: Birthday Celebration at Fraser’s Hill and a little giveaway!

I turned 24 not too long ago (the day in question falls on a certain public holiday in Malaysia ;) and my awesome parents decided to organise a cosy birthday celebration with some family and friends!

This is going to be a photo-heavy post as one of my best mates, Kean Ho took many great photos with his DSLR! Paired with my Olympus and some great shots from Bernard’s Samsung S3, I happily present you one of my longest Trigger-Happy posts yet! Also more intimate as I reveal a thing or two about my family!

The venue? A gorgeous Bungalow in the depths of Fraser’s Hill:

We arrived in the afternoon on the 15th of September which happens to be Dad’s birthday and Paul’s* sister T and F joined us soon after! Feeling peckish, we trudged a little way downhill for some Banana Fritters, or Pisang Goreng as we locals call it.

Here’s the stall where we bought a huge bag of Pisang Goreng with two combs of Pisang Raja (king of bananas when translated literally)

Us happily munching on freshly fried Pisang Goreng!

The rest of Paul’s* family members then joined us a little later and we had a bit of fun playing with baby Edward, Paul’s* other sister’s baby boy!

Having fun on the seesaw with Edward, Z, Paul* on one end, B the daddy on the other and Edward’s grandmama looking on adoringly in the background!

Now who says seesaws are only for kids?

Watching Dad and Paul’s* Dad playing on the seesaw was pretty much the highlight of the trip as all of us watching from the distance broke out into guffaws of laughter. Much credit goes to Kean Ho who rushed to take this paparazzi-esque shot of the two men. They immediately got up in embarrassment when they realised they were being watched. =D

Then there’s Mummy on the swing, proving my parents are very much young at heart:

The look on Mum’s face immortalised in this shot? Priceless. ;)

The next day, Mum decided to keep us ‘kids’ quiet with some Paint-it-Yourself kits. For once in my life, I could paint! Never an artistic person, I had help from my artsy fartsy Dad when it came to Art projects for school.. During exams, I even had help from a creative friend who would sneakily help me put in strokes of paint here and there, camouflaging the ugliness in my artwork.

+___+

So the four big kids: Paul*, T, F and I sat down first thing in the morning and started painting!

Numbers are placed on the canvas so all you need to do is paint according to the numbers stated. Easy! =D If I can do this, everyone can!

As the weather was lovely, Mum then shoo-ed us out of the home and asked us to rent some bicycles and cycle about. The men – B and F were extremely gung ho about it and pedalled with great ease whereas T and I huffed and puffed behind. Paul* tagged along behind us girls as he was worried we’d get left behind. The two gung ho men constantly stopped and made U-turns as we girls were simply too….. delicate to cycle as quickly as them boys! I admit I am most unfit and have no stamina.

Us cyclists at the town centre where we rented our bikes!

The gung ho boys:

The bike pusher a.k.a me:

T and I!

“I’ve filled my exercise quota for a year” – quips T. I highly second that!

Lunch came and went and it was time for tea! Here’s a rare photo of me posing with a peace sign for your viewing pleasure:

Mummy painstakingly made many a bite-sized delicacy for all us to much on. I have the best Mummy in the world. Something rather unsavoury struck us the day before we left for Fraser’s Hill in which we nearly cancelled this getaway but Mum decided to carry on with this trip as she didn’t want to let everyone down. <3 Best parents in the world, I have!

Lettuce, half a quail egg, some mayonaise and shrimps topped on wholemeal bread with homemade cheese tarts followed by cucumber and mint finger sandwiches.

Homemade Madeleines and Cream Puffs with The Loaf’s Chocolate Croissants and Cranberry Cheese erm.. bread?

Now that we are talking about food, allow me to introduce you to a smashingly delicious yet simple dessert: Sago Pudding

Topped with evaporated milk and Gula Melaka (palm sugar), this makes such an enjoyable dessert, made by housekeeper and family friend Annie. I helped myself to 4 helpings of this and I couldn’t breathe after. #glutton
It was then time to blow out the lone candle on my cake! I’m incredibly blessed to be surrounded with such happy, loving people.
Paul’s family presented me with a lovely, lovely gift:

After carefully undoing the ribbon, this greeted me:

My first item from Coach! A lovely clutch which doubles up as a purse. Am incredibly touched by their generous gesture. <3 Thank you!

T and F then had to leave us after tea as F’s birthday comes up on the following day so Mum got some empty containers for them to bring downhill. A candid moment with them and the two Mummies here:

Then it’s bye bye T and F!
In order to counter our food baby (bulging tummies), the rest of us decided to head out for a walk.
The brother, Mum and I then decided to pose for a photo at the end of our cul de sac.

No, that’s not where we stayed. ;)

Baby Edward was feverish so he, Auntie and Z decided to head back to the bungalow whereas the rest of us conquered the Hemmant Trail:

Shot taken by Kean Ho. The designated photographer of the trip. Here’s another one, which is my personal favourite:

Here’s my take on trying to be creative, taking a shot of Kean Ho and Dad. ;)

We came home to a certain someone peeking out at us from the window!

Edward’s one happy baby! Here’s another with his grandpapa

And one with Paul and I. =)

Before we knew it, it was dinner time! All of our meals sans high tea were prepared by Annie. =)

Since it’s mid-autumn, we headed out to play with lanterns and… Sparklers!
Uncle proves he is still very much young at heart. ;)

Whereas the rest of us just posed. All these following photos were shot with Kean Ho’s amazing camera as I didn’t know how to fiddle about with my camera’s settings to take night shots! Mum and bro were posing and I just had to photobomb their shot!

Mummy playing with her god-grandchild – Aini and her Mum who joined us for an evening of fun!

What’s a family get-together without one for the album?

And one with the petite Aini who didn’t look too pleased to be photographed. Oops!

Z, B, Edward and Auntie!

After spending two lovely nights at Fraser’s Hill, it was time to bad it farewell. =( It’s time to pack up!
Our getaway then ended with a shot of everyone who made this a trip to remember:
I have been sporting a rather bare face during this trip, using minimum makeup (mostly concealer, powder and sheer, shimmery eyeshadow) as my skin has once again decided to erupt on me. =( Also, Mum pointed out that I’m not using the correct foundation shade for my skintone and that all of my foundations bar my YSL Touché Eclat Foundation sample in B10 is too dark for me. Imagine my horror when I discovered even my trusty Bourjois foundations are a tad dark for me! T___T
I am hoping I will tan a little more since I’m home now or I’ll need to lookout for paler foundations! O.o Please put forward any recommandations as I do need foundation to even out the redness on my face!

If you have managed to read this far, congratulations and thank you very much for being such a loyal reader! <3 In conjunction with my birthday celebration and this lengthy post, I have decided to giveaway one MUA Undressed Palette and a Bourjois Effet 3D Lipgloss in the shade 52 (I think, I forgot to photograph the shade number and I'm currently away from home!) to one lucky reader!

To win, all you need to do is follow me on GFC / Bloglovin’ / E-mail and tell me what is it you love about my blog and what would you like me to feature more in the future! This giveaway will end on the 7th of October at 11.59pm Malaysian time. You can tweet about this giveaway if you like but it isn’t compulsory!

To round up this post, the giveaway is international but do remember to read the rules before entering! ;)

Thank you all for being such lovely readers and for bearing with me while I randomly go on long, unexplained nor announced absences but I will be back soon! <3

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: Of the Grotesque

I’ve been seeing strange things in the sky! I call it the Theatre of the Grotesque. Queer, distorted shapes the clouds form but perhaps I’m only seeing them now as my mind is muddled up in a bizarred way.

I’m still packing, have got a couple of days left in this country I’ve called home for the last five years. Where life takes me next, i do not know but it is incredibly comforting to know that I’ve got supportive readers like you. So thank you very much for sticking with me and I have a few surprises coming up seeing it is my birthday month!

Also, it happens to be Stephanie’s birthday today!!! Go wish her a very Happy Birthday now! <3

It may be disconcerting for me to end this week’s Trigger-Happy column with this image but seeing it’s Grotesque week this week here goes:

Tell me what you think of it and I’ll tell you mine! ;)

Happy Thursday!

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: Postman Affair

Today, I’m battling a very severe case of cramps. Then the lovely postman decides to place all my parcels (three in total) under a dustbin lid. Note that this has also been something I have battled with over the last two years.

Let me talk you on a walk down the cherry lane….

Two years ago I placed a Cath Kidston order online. Cath Kidston’s floral prints are their strongest selling point and they even have their own special floral print postal bags! A few days after I discovered the dustbin lid was right at my doorstep, with the instantly recognisable Cath Kidston print sticking out from the bottom of the lid.

I was furious. What if some passerby saw the package and decided to walk away with it? We don’t have gates here so anyone could simply walk up to my doorstep, nick the package, walk away and I wouldn’t even know that the package was at my doorstep!! O.o

Another incident. I bought some Mario Badescu stuff from Beauty Bay and thought the parcel went missing as it’s been a good two weeks since I received it. Out of frustration I accidentally kicked the lid one day when I was about to enter the house. No guesses as to what I found under the lid. A dusty Beauty Bay package.

I brought this matter up to Royal Mail. They promised it wouldn’t happen again….

Until now.

Good thing is, I do not need to arrange for a redelivery. Or go through the hassle of heading to the main post office to collect the parcel.

The bad? Losing the package, of course! I’m really lucky I live in a good neighbourhood *touches wood* and all my neighbours are lovely people! Which brings me back to when our wheelie bin used to be overflowing with rubbish (usual uni student house trait) and one of our neighbours would always move some of our rubbish bags into his because he was worried that the rubbish collectors wouldn’t empty our bin because it was too full!

Again, I digress.

I did not manage to take any Trigger-Happy worthy photos this week as I have been preoccupied with a sudden decision, or opportunity as I should call it to uproot myself from here. The house is currently in a mess as I ponder on whether to keep, to ship or to throw many of my belongings. I’m such a hoarder! :s

Anyway, I have collected quite a substantial amount of Boots Advantage Points and I just had to use it to redeem something of use to me =p

The answer to what I got is in the other tab I’ve got on my browser. ;)

Yep, I did indulge in a bit of late night shopping on my day off. =D I am now wondering what the postman has in store for me tomorrow. Till tomorrow, my lovely readers! Much love to all of you. =)

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: A slightly rough one!

Hello my lovely readers! I managed to squeeze some time into putting some photos I took from this week and let’s start with the first:

Humpty Dumpty Meadow. This week, I feel and look like Humpty Dumpty. Something has triggered off a series of breakouts all over my face and it’s not the usual flare-ups I’m used to getting but a proper, bad breakout which involves white-headed bumps all over my face! There seems to be more on my cheeks (I rarely get even one pimple on my cheeks) and on my right chin than anywhere else on my face and I’m getting properly freaked out at the moment.

It doesn’t help that I am waddling about with a bloated belly that makes me look like I’m 6 months pregnant and I managed to sprain my back while helping my friend move!

Not a very good week for me, isn’t it? =p

But then again, there are a few things that managed to put a smile on my face. Like this:

An old, worn out ball. We do not have children living with us and I have always wondered why we constantly have random balls in our garden which led me to think that the neighbours’ kids must have hit their ball over. Early yesterday morning I spotted the fox playing around with the ball. Culprit found! It must have picked up these balls left by children in their garden and brought it to our home! =) I spent over 10 minutes watching the fox play with the ball and roll about in the grass before realising I was this close to being late for work! *gasp*

Another reason for me to be happy! My two tomato plants! The one on the right is flowering (which is a good sign, I suppose) and the other on the left seems to be doing its very best too haha!

I am all about food. Fruits, especially during summer. Here’s one of our two plum trees but this is my favourite plum tree as the plums produced are always sweeter and softer! =D

Here are some of the plums I picked! Actually it’s what’s left of whatever I picked earlier as I indulged in one too many plums as I walked about in our lovely garden! Weather’s been lovely again with a couple of hot days and some cooler, cloudier ones in between!

I hope everyone’s had a lovely week and I am surely looking forward to the weekend! =D Are you?

Trigger-Happy Thursdays: Fruit-Picking!

Hello everyone!! Last week’s column saw me starting the post off with dark skies… Even though the skies are looking pretty dark as I type this I shall fire off today’s post with a nice bright photo of some wild (maybe not) flowers I found by the side of the road!

The petals are multi-coloured and extremely bright so I took some shots of them to share with you! Unfortunately it was really windy, which explains the blurred shot. :s

I had a rather eventful week, with me successfully slicing my finger over my tub of Astral! Lucky for me I had a strip of Primapore plasters (the kind where you can cut the plaster to measure) and it helped stop the bleeding on my pinky!

Then I went on a fruit-picking adventure where I rather shamelessly picked wild plums along a busy main road! =D

They are sweet and juicy! Fact that they are free makes it even sweeter ;) I have been picking a few every day so I get fresh fruit to munch on whilst working / watching YouTube videos hehe!

I spotted this extremely vivid red rose when I was walking down from uni and just had to take a ninja shot! As you can see the rose is growing in someone’s home so I had to lean over the wall to get a good shot. The peachy-pink rose in the background is equally pretty! In fact, I was sorely tempted to ring the doorbell and ask for the names of these roses as they are oh-so pretty! Maybe one day! =p

This shouldn’t really be in my Trigger-Happy post as I didn’t photograph this but I thought I’d let you readers have a little insight as to what my boyfriend does. He’s a chambering pupil in Kuala Lumpur. Folks, this is what the future lawyers of Malaysia are put through before they are even allowed to make their mark in the legal world. Okay I kid. It’s a one off thing… Or so I hope! =D

Sunday saw all Malaysians coming together, cheering for our dear Dato’ Lee Chong Wei in the men’s singles badminton finals. It was heartbreaking to see him lose and watch him tear during the prize-giving ceremony. Worse still, he later tweeted ‘I’m sorry.’ T___T

Okay enough sad news!

Blackberries have come to town!! =D

At this rate I won’t have to buy fruits for the next couple of weeks! Hmm am now thinking if I should put my ‘fruit money’ towards a new eyeshadow duo? Am thinking either bareMinerals READY or the NARS Kalahari duo. Decisions, decisions!

Also, I thought I’d show you a comparison post of my beloved tomato plants! =)

Are you doing, or did you get up to much over the last week? Have you been watching any of the Olympic events? =)
