Another travel essentials post!

Hello lovelies!!

I’m currently blogging with my phone, via the WordPress app so I have no idea if the post will look ok once posted *fingers crossed*!

Right now, I’m “roasting” at my grandma’s place up north. It’s so hot (we arrived early today) and humid that I think I could actually melt and turn into a puddle of lard. It really is that hot!

Also, it’s lovely taking time off work and being away from home for a bit! I’m really thankful my grandmothers are still around, so coming to visit them’s a brilliant excuse, if you like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

Again, I did my very best to travel light today, you can see my other travel essentials posts here and here :p

Lets start with skin care! Here’s what I packed:

20130402-170658.jpg

1. Guerlain Secret de Purete Cleansing Cream
I’m pretty bold this time round! I do not usually test stuff out while I’m on holiday for fear of breaking out badly. I shall report back in one of my Sampling Sunday post! :)

2. Origins Modern Friction scrub
I have reviewed this quite some time ago (here) and this came as a GWP. I now use this as a diluted scrub and it works really well when I’m on holiday as it gets rid of all those grimy bits of dirt left on my face. Believe me, coming to my hometown always makes my face feel rather greasy + clogged up so this is a lifesaver!

3. SK-II Cellumination Mask-in-Lotion

A quick and moisturising lotion that works wonder for me! It softens my skin like no other and it doesn’t break me out! :)

4. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream
Light, moisturising, good price. Can’t go wrong with this one! I use it in the daytime only as the last thing I want is for me to be stuck with an oily T-Zone before noon!

5. Creme de La Mer moisturising soft cream
A sample I bagged from the lovely SA at Fenwick’s last September. Only giving it a go now and I think I am in love!

6. Shiseido Perfect UV protector

I never go anywhere without this. I have backups of backups of this product. Nuff’ said. ;)

7. SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge EX
I received a sample of this as the SK-II SA recommended it to me. Didn’t realise I packed more than one moisturizer! #badpacker

8. Clinique Even Better Eyes dark circle corrector
Still trying this out. Early days but I think this product and I can actually be more than just friends.

9. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
Potent stuff, this one. Broke me out a few years ago but it seems to be working oh-so-fine for me now.

10. SK-II Facial Treatment Lotion
A need when I travel. This removes every last bit of makeup / grime I’ve got on my face.

11. Cellnique’s Soothing Hydrating Lotion (in little spray bottle)

I love this. Love, love, love, love love this. Thanks, soulmate!

12. SK-II Facial Treatment Cleanser
Another fav. I used to be the kind of girl who didn’t think pricey cleansers would be worth the money but this one changed my mind. Check it out here!

13. Clinique’s Take the Day Off eye makeup remover
Another deluxe-sized sample I never quite got down to using. This is the second (out of four) that I’ve got. I can’t say I love this as it does make my eyesight go a bit blurry but it does the job and doesn’t irritate my eyes.

Moving on to the fun bit now: Make up!

20130402-205650.jpg

1. Guerlain Parure de Nuit powder & blush

Again, using this for the first time. Don’t know what got to me early today! I picked it out of it’s box just as I was about to leave for the airport. It’s lovely. So pretty. I use it as an all-over face powder and blush!

2. Clinique Chubby Stick 04 Mega Melon

Goodness! What took me so long! I now have two Chubby Stick Intense-s and one regular one and I think I like the original formulation better! I need more of these in my life! :D

3. Guerlain L’or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold
Sigh. Looking at this makes me miss Fenwick’s even more. Jackie (my favourite Guerlain SA ever) gave this (and a couple other stuff) to me just as I was leaving the UK. :’) Again, first time I’m using this! I’m now a little worried I’ll go home with a face-ful of irritated skin!

4. Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile edp
*smells self* this is seriously good stuff. Need to get more than just one tiny vial! :D

5. BareMinerals Ready eyeshadow duo

Another travesty! I can’t remember the name of this eyeshadow duo (I’m not with my makeup at the moment, sorry!) but yes, I will update it as soon as I’m reunited with it! Also, I didn’t bring an eye primer. The horror.

6. SK-II Facial Treatment Cream Foundation in shade 310
I wore this without primer in the morning. When I say morning, I mean before the break of dawn (5am). I was going to take a shower at 2pm when I looked at the mirror. No sign of any bits sliding off. Impressed I am.

7. Shiseido Perfect Mascara Defining Volume
I promised my grandma I would put in a little more effort into the way I dress when I’m visiting her. To be honest, I don’t really bother with any make up when I’m visiting the grannies as it’s so very hot here and I just can’t be bothered as there is little to no chance that I’ll bump into someone I know all the way up here! This time, I thought I should make it a point to brush some mascara through my lashes. :p

8. Shu Uemura eyelash curler
Still happily curling my lashes with this one!

9. Creme de La mer The Radiant Concealer in Light
My HG concealer. The one concealer that rules them all (in my opinion, at least). You may have a look at the review here :)

Finally! I hope you enjoyed reading this! :)

Thought I’d end the post with a photo of grandma and I (minimal makeup, just the Sk-II foundation and the Parure de Nuit powder with a quick slick of Clinique’s Chubby Stick!). This was taken in the afternoon without any filters. I look really hot and bothered but just so happy to see her! I forgot to take one with my other grandma +___+ but there’s always another time! :)

Creme de La Mer The Radiant Concealer 01 Light review

Ah! Easily my favourite, most Holy Grail concealer I have used to date! Purchased back on the 25th of August, 2012, this post has not seen daylight even though it has been one of my most requested posts.

I have a few *cough* excuses for you today. Before I proceed, allow me to present you a photo of this beautiful product, in its beautiful box:

Excessive packer.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed me flooding your timeline at about 7am (Malaysian time) yesterday. The last day of 2012 was a crazy one for me where my body simply had to kick the day off on a high note, temperature wise. It is frustrating for me as I only just recovered from a bad cold, and having this with another last minute piece of news sent my body into overdrive.

Then comes the reason behind me flooding Twitter with one too many tweets at once. I received a call from Mum while I was out yesterday asking me to book myself a ticket back to my hometown up north. Apart from that, I had to book myself a ticket out of that city the very next day and head to the Pearl of the Orient, with grandma in tow. Tickets also had to be booked for her to travel back to said hometown a couple of days later, this time the companion being an aunt.

Upon receiving the news (which is great news, by the way) I had to rush to purchase all the tickets. Thank goodness I had my Ipad with me or I would have gone a little bonkers as I was going to be out until late evening. Tickets were bought, words exchange, transportation arranged and here I am, telling you the story of how I can never, ever pack light.

I flew back to my hometown with Air Asia, Malaysia's famous low-cost carrier and I proudly proclaimed to mum the night before

“Yay I am so happy my suitcase's ultra light this time round!”

Mum happily agreed with me. I only carried a “few” items, them being:

Femme Boulevard December: Ushering 2013 in Style!

Hello lovelies! I hope all of you have had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the new year! I for one am extremely excited about the new year and I will let you in on why in a bit. Meanwhile, allow me to introduce you to today’s post!

Yours truly has been given the opportunity to participate in a Femme Boulevard post! Femme Boulevard is a monthly column written by three fabulous bloggers: Joey , Lily, and Teri. For the month of December, the three lovelies decided to open their column to all us beauty bloggers out to join in the New Year festivities and so here I am, attempting to do something totally out of my comfort zone!

The theme of today’s look is metallic / shiny lids with vampy / bold lips. Imagine my slight horror when I read those words as I have never really worn bold lips out nor have I worn metallic lids very much. Thankfully, it can be an editorial, wearable look or “anything, as long as you have fun doing it” qoute Lily. ;)

I chose my look based on something wearable as I will be attend a cousin’s wedding early January 2013, the main reason on why I am so excited about starting the new year!

Onto this wearable look! Here are the products I used to create the look:

Products used to create Femme Boulevard December 2012 look

As I will be wearing a teal dress (either the one featured in this post or another) to the wedding, I thought I’d match my eyeshadow with my dress. I then dug out my Guerlain Les Ombres de Nuit 4 -Colour Palette from Guerlain’s Christmas 2011 collection. The look also requires vampy lips and I immediately thought of the Guerlain Nuit d’Amour Rouge Automatique from the same Christmas collection!

Here’s a list of the other products I used:

1. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 51

2. Creme de La Mer The Radiant Concealer in Light

3. K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h Waterproof in Black

4. No7 Nude Lip Liner

5. Shiseido Perfect Mascara Defining Volume

6. Guerlain Terracotta La Selection De L’ete

7. Guerlain Blush 4 Eclats Rose Plein Vert 05

8. Guerlain Rouge Shine Automatique in Altoum

9. Shu Uemura Hard Formula Brow Pencil in 05 Stone Grey

And… Here’s the look!

Femme Boulevard December 2012 shiny lids

Pardon the peeling nose, I’ve just recovered from a full-blown cold but my nose has not ceased shedding its skin just yet!

Onto the face first, I used Bourjois’ Healthy Mix foundation as it’s more moisturising and it’s yellow undertones really help conceal the redness around my nose and cheek area. My skin has also been dry of late so this is a go-to for evenings out! A light dusting of blush went with the look as I didn’t want to take any attention away from my eyes / lips. An attempt to contour went in too with the Guerlain bronzer but it doesn’t really show up in the photos.

For the eyes! I first applied a thin layer of the shimmering grey shade all over the lids. Then I took the blackened blue shade and applied it on the outer lids, slowly working it into my crease. I layered on the colours slowly and carefully as I wanted all shades to blend well together. The lighter teal shade was used on the middle of both lids and blended out. The key to this look? Blend, blend and blend some more! I dabbed some of the shimmering grey eyeshadow on the corner of my eyes to make them pop a little.

As this look will be worn in the evening, I brought some of the blackened blue shade down under the outer corner of my eyes and blended that out with the teal and grey shades, working my way to the inner corners of my eyes.

The eyes were tightlined with the K-Palette eyeliner, a gift from my soulmate who with Lily introduced me into the world of eyeliners. =) As usual, I then curled my eyelashes with my trusty Shu Uemura lash curlers and lashings of the Shiseido mascara went through them. Brows were lightly filled with the Shu Uemura Brow Pencil.

Finally, I lined and filled in my lips with the No7 Nude lip liner before applying the Guerlain Nuit d’Amour Rouge Automatique with a lip brush onto my lips. Upon applying the shade I felt it could do with a little shine so I slicked on a layer of Guerlain’s Altoum Shine Automatique but it’s barely visible, even in real life. Guess I shouldn’t have bothered with it. =p

I tried my very best to take photos without me looking really silly but I guess I am not photogenic at all. Sigh. I’ll let the photos do the talking.

This one, I took in hope of showcasing the eyes without looking weird. Succeeded in the eye department, failed in terms of looking weird.

Then there’s this shot. A family member mentioned I bear an uncanny resemblance to The Joker.

Femme Boulevard December 2012 New Year look

Do you think the look meets the shiny / bold look? The look’s nothing metallic as I can’t bring myself to wear such a bold eye out but the shine gives my eyes more depth. The deep plummy lips  seems to breathe a new lease of life into an otherwise boring matchy eye and dress look. What say you?

Do not forget to check out what the other ladies think! =D

I have something rather exciting coming up in the next few days so be sure to stay tuned! ;)

September Favourites!

Hiya! It’s nearing mid-October and I am just about to churn out my September favourites post. Oops! Still, I hope this post is better late than never. ;)

Since coming home, I have discovered my foundations are all a tad too dark for me which turned into a major nightmare as my skin has been misbehaving a little too much lately. I really needed the coverage so I had to turn to quite a few concealers to help conceal those eye sacks and blemishes. Naturally, some of these concealers made the list!

First up, Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Concealer:

This was purchased as part of a last minute mad dash in Boots at London’s Heathrow Airport. Seeing there was a £3 off offer, hence bringing the cost down to a rather affordable £3.99. I bit the bullet, chose the lightest shade (Ivory) and whipped out my Boots Advantage card even though I have not swatched the product beforehand! This creamy concealer works a treat when it comes to concealing my eye sacks but sadly doesn’t perform as well when it comes to those angry red zits of mine. However, it still works well as an all-in-one concealer so it sits permanently in my travel makeup kit. Colour wise it is just a little dark for me but nothing a light dusting of powder combined with my Meteorites can’t help!

The next favourite, an under-eye concealer I doubt I can ever live without:

My Creme de La Mer The Radiant Concealer in Light. Let’s start with that ugly nick right at the top of the concealer.

I was applying the concealer one morning in my room when my brother thought it would be funny to barge into my room and greet me with a massive

‘BOOYAH!’

that made me jump, resulting in me digging into my then-pretty pot of concealer with my fingernail.

Boy oh boy did he get into a load of trouble for doing that to me! This concealer blends like a dream, doesn’t settle into fine lines and matches my skintone perfectly. Only downside is the hefty price tag and the fact that this is unavailable in Malaysia. T__T

Now for some colour in this post! =D I have been absolutely loving this Kate eyeshadow palette in BR-2 thanks to Steph and her awesome taste:

A lovely, shimmery neutral palette (three colours on the right) that can be worn from day to night! I am slightly wary of the white shade as the glitter is a tad chunky so that goes onto the inner corner of my eyes when I want to look a little more awake! Other than that this is a versatile and travel-friendly palette! Yet another item that has been sitting in my travel makeup bag over the last month!

Actually, I noticed that most of this month’s favourite products come from my travel makeup bag. =)

Yet another Rimmel gem which made its way into my September Favourites is this simple-looking item:

The Stay Matte Pressed Powder doesn’t break the bank at £3.99 (approximately RM20) with its minimalist and lightweight packaging. I own the Transparent version as I only use this to lightly set concealed areas, or the entire face should I be using foundation or BB cream. I usually favour my Dior Nude Natural Glow Sculpting Powder when it comes to travelling but for some reason this has been in my makeup bag for the last month and I have been reaching out for this ever so often! Having a generous 14g worth of product in the pan means this will last me quite a while. =)

One always needs something to combat ‘em evil breakouts. I found a product that seems to work well for me:

Dr. Sebagh’s Breakout Spot-On Blemish Corrector is one product that reduces the redness in my zits not long after application. It then takes 2-3 days for the zit to dry up and heal. What sets this apart from the other zit-busting products is that this one does not sting my skin even when applied onto raw, just-popped zits. Mega plus points for this one!

That’s all for my September Favourites but I have one little bonus photo to share with you! I had my hair done just yesterday (which was a nightmare) and the end result was a little too light for my liking. The photos I took all turned out redder than it looks! In real life it takes on a really yellowish-blonde shade, which does upset me severely as I specifically said I did not want to go light.

T__T

I really don’t know! Even Mum agreed that this colour looks too light and ‘improper’ but pray tell me what all of you think, pretty please! Should I rush out to the nearest drugstore and re-colour my hair?

>.<

Here it is!

Yikes!!! +___+
