February Empties: Hada Labo, Kiehl’s, SK-II, Melvita, Cosrx, Shiseido

Happy Leap Day! I’ve been working hard at using up products to accommodate my ever-growing skincare stash, and can’t believe February Some are longtime favourites while others are relatively new additions to my routine and I thought I’d share how I feel about them.

Hada Labo Kiehl's Melvita Cosrx SK-II Shiseido

Hada Labo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Acid Foaming Cleanser

I was initially worried about purchasing this famous low pH cleanser as their best-selling Lotion broke me out. Paul* and I were at Guardian pharmacy last December and he encouraged me to give it another go. Am I’m very glad I did. At RM39.90 (US$9.50), this doesn’t break the bank, doesn’t strip my skin and most importantly, doesn’t break me out. And I’m not the only one who enjoys using this – Paul* does too!

Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner

This used to be a firm favourite of mine. I went through bottles of this before I decided to give other toners a go! This is a ‘cleaning’ toner, not a moisturising one. It does its job well and doesn’t irritate my skin. Would I repurchase? I doubt it. There are more affordable options out there! Paid RM90 (US$21.40) for a 200ml bottle.

Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water

It’s a thick, viscous clear liquid that smells of fresh roses. I use it as an essence and it’s hydrates and plumps up the skin pretty well. I used up five bottles of this prior to discovering the joys of Kbeauty. At RM98 (US$23.30) for 100ml of product, I wouldn’t recommend it if you are on a tight budget… But if you like the smell of roses (like I do), it adds a very nice touch to one’s skincare routine and I love that it’s organic!

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence Eye

I have an oil seed problem. This is why I stay away from thick eye creams, or eye creams in general. The SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (FTE) Eye is a very light serum-cream that moisturises the eye area lightly. It isn’t the best eye treatment for those with dark circles (me!) but it does hydrate and keep those fine, crepe-y lines at bay. I also like that this comes in an airless pump bottle! RM312 (US$74.10) for 15g of product isn’t cheap, but it did last me well over a year! =D

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector WetForce SPF50 PA++++

My HG sunscreen, cannot be without it. I first reviewed it in 2012 and am still very much in love! I cut open ever single bottle as you can get at least two more uses out of it! I believe this costs RM148.50 (USD38.30) and it is worth every single penny.

Cosrx Ultimate Moisturising Honey Overnight Mask

Cosrx, how I love you so! You only need a thin layer, but I like applying a little more just before heading to bed. This gel is perfect for my combination / dehydrated skin as I always wake up with glowing skin! I have a brand new tub sitting in a box somewhere waiting to be cracked open. Even Paul* enjoys using this! I bought this from Wishtrend where it cost US$16.

I’m working on using up more products in the next month – have got some body creams that needs using up! What have you used up this month? Do share!
