This hot and humid climate makes makeup slide off my face pretty quick. It doesn’t help that I sweat loads. Also, I’m not one who likes touching up throughout the day so I’m always after long-wearing products that do not break me out.
In comes One Heck of a Blot:
Soap & Glory’s one of my favourite drugstore brands. I have tried nearly all of their products (thanks to Boots’ 3 for 2 offer) and they work pretty darn well.
This, I managed to bag during another 3 for 2 offer, thanks to dear Paul’s brother who kindly lugged them back for me.
One Heck of a Blot is said to be super oil controlling and absorbing, leaving you with a traceless, smooth and natural finish. It sure does deliver. No matter how much powder I dust on my face, my skin still looks smooth and natural. It can be quite deceiving at first but trust me, simply swirl your brush in the pan twice and gently dust it all over your face. I always start with my oily T-Zone before moving on to my undereye area (gotta set my undereye concealer for fear of any sacks showing) and cheeks.
When new, One Heck of a Blot is embossed with the word “POWder” but this is a well-loved product and I’m starting to worry as the bottom of the pan’s starting to show.
Don’t worry if the shade’s too light for you for this one just disappears into the skin. I had my slightly darker-skinned friend try this before and it blended in seamlessly.
When wearing this, I never need to worry about my base makeup melting / sliding off. The oiliest start to show up after 5 hours or so, which is great considering it’s incredibly humid here in Malaysia.
I wish I had the infamous MAC Blot Powder to compare this with as it’s something most of my oily-skinned friends swear by. Perhaps I should take the plunge and pit them against each other to see which powder works best! =D
Does this warrant a repurchase in my books? Of course! The only question is how am I going to get a back up of this!
Do you wear oil-controlling powders? Which ones do you recommend? Do share!
