Miss me? =D
It’s 2014, been too long since I blogged consistently and I am going to do my very best to update this blog more frequently because I still love me a good beauty product and… I haven’t stopped buying those rather wallet-breaking beauties!
Thought I start it off with a little haul post, just warming up here, you see…
Anyway, I headed down south recently – to Singapore with the mother, brother and fiance. A bit of a strange mix but we get along very well! This time around, we did not sightsee as it wasn’t our first time in the country. Instead, we indulged in quite a bit of retail therapy.
Not so much of the others, but I did.
How I yearn to visit my much missed beauty counters such as YSL, Tom Ford, Armani and the high street brands such as Bourjois, Collection, La Roche Posay, Bioderma, Vichy and the like. I was also looking forward to checking out some of the Japanese beauty brands that aren’t available in Malaysia such as Fancl and Orbis.
Well, I’ll stop rambling and let the photos do the talking.
Pardon the photo quality, I’m currently using a new camera and am still trying to get the hang of things! =)
First up, a product I have been wanting to purchase for so long now! Shiseido’s Sun Protection Liquid Foundation! I love Shiseido’s Perfect UV Protector and have been using it exclusively for over two years now (but that may be about to change.. Read on to find out more!) and have heard such great things about this product. Shades run quite light in this range and the SA at OG People’s Park matched me to SP10 – its lightest shade.
Orbis UV Cut Super Liquid Foundation SPF50 in 01 Natural, UV Cut Sunscreen on Face SPF34 and Aquaforce Moisture-M Oil Cut
Orbis!!! I dragged the family all over Orchard Road in search of THAT Robinsons just to get to Orbis! Thank God for my loving and patient family – especially Paul* who simply hovered around as I checked out every single item at every single beauty counter. Thank you for being so patient and not stopping me from getting the stuff I want! =D
I first read about Orbis thanks to Yumeko who highly recommends the UV Cut Sunscreen! I happily jumped at the idea of having a foundation with SPF (you see a trend there … Sukie and her obsession with anything SPF related) and I simply had to give the water-based Aquaforce moisturiser a go. =D
Fancl Mild Cleansing oil, White Washing Powder C and Foaming Ball
Oh Fancl. I have also heard great things about this brand and I’ll be honest … This was an impulse purchase, bought just as we were about to leave the country. =D The sad thing is that all Fancl counters will cease operation on March 31 and there is no news (according to the SA) as to when the counters will reopen!
I usually have a phobia of purchasing Cleansing Oils after suffering from a particularly bad breakout (hello, Shu Uemura) but it’s 2014, and I’m taking the plunge!
I also purchased a teeny 100ml bottle of Shu Uemura cleansing oil on a whim but that’s a story for another post. No, I have not started using it yet for fear of breaking out in boils just before the Lunar New Year! 😉
The Foaming Ball, which usually costs SGD1 came free with purchase of the Washing Powder C, which is a bonus considering nothing much comes free these days.
Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner
Bioderma!!! How I miss lurking about French pharmacies in search of Bioderma value packs!! Again a last minute purchase (was considering purchasing over Strawberrynet instead) but this kind SA at Guardian pressed a SGD2 off coupon into my hands… (okay, she gave me a couple of coupons) so I bought this, a non-detergent shampoo (check out my Instagram) and a Cicabio cream for mum (not in above pic as she’s using it at the moment… treating a horrific oven burn that comes with baking CNY goodies)
Not only did the SA pass me coupons…. She also gave me a load of samples!!! =D
La Roche Posay Uvidea XL Melt-in-cream SPF50, Effaclar K, Uvidea Aqua Fresh Gel SPF30 PA++++ and Effaclar Duo
Seeing La Roche Posay in Singapore made me OH. SO. HAPPY. My go-to treatment for breakouts – the Effaclar K and Duo products have since run out ages ago and looking at them now just makes me so happy. I have never reviewed these products (not that I can remember and I’m too lazy to look up the archives… Still lazy, I know) but I need to, really soon.
I started using Effaclar Duo as soon as I got back to the hotel as my skin was reacting rather badly to the heat. Not that the weather in Singapore is hotter, it’s just that being out all day takes a toll on my skin and it just flares up. =(
Again, do note the sunscreen trend. =D I’m looking out for a cheaper and better alternative to my HG Perfect UV Protector so here’s to trying them out!
YSL Glossy Stain Rebel Nudes in 106 Beige Anarchiste, Rouge Volupte Shine 8 Pink in Confidence, Glossy Stain Rebel Nudes in 105 Corail Hold Up and Le Teint Touche Eclat SPF30 in shade BR10
My most expensive beauty haul came exclusively from YSL. I love YSL’s Glossy Stains but most, if not all of the original shades turn way too bright on me so I was looking forward to checking out the Rebel Nudes Glossy Stains! I bought shade 105 Corail Hold Up on the first day at Ion Orchard and wore it throughout my holiday. Unfortunately, it turned my lips into that of an 80-year-old!! Am now in the midst of healing my poor lips but that will not stop me from wearing glossy stains because I love them so much.
At Takashimaya’s YSL counter, I met Natasha, a lovely MUA who also watches Lisa Eldridge videos! I also found out YSL Singapore carries an Asian-only version of the famous Touche Eclat foundation – it has higher coverage than the European version and has SPF30 instead of SPF19. BR10 is a “perfect match” for me, according to her and Paul as they found B10 to be too sallow for their liking.
As for Glossy Stain 106 and the Rouge Volupte Shine, I have a feeling this combo is going to be a very special lip colour for a very special day… But I will let you know in due time if this is the ONE. 😉
I did look up the Bourjois, Tom Ford and Armani counters but for some reason… Nothing caught my fancy!
