Double-cleansing and I go way back. This extra step in one’s skincare regime has been in mine since I hit puberty (I hit puberty pretty early in life) and that’s when I noticed little bumps growing on my once baby soft skin.
I’m like a kepoh (busybody) auntie who goes round telling others to double-cleanse if they ever ask me about my skincare routine. This is because your skin will not be able to absorb all the lovely serums / products you apply onto it should you not cleanse it well beforehand.
Then comes in a lot of blessings. I am incredibly blessed to have someone like Stephanie in my life. This lovely sister from another mister produced this as a gift when we met up sometime last year. =)
The Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser is a product that has garnered quite the following amongst the beauty blogging community. One of my favourite bloggers / YouTubers Estee has also mentioned it in one of her videos.
Antipodes is an Organic Beauty brand from New Zealand. Truth be told, I do not know much about this brand but here’s what they’ve got to say about this product:
A luscious butter cleanser to leave your complexion feeling divinely fresh and deeply cleansed. Designed to soften and moisturise, this enchanting cleanser combines nourishing cacao butter with soothing oils and quintessential Vinanza Grape antioxidant from New Zealand’s sauvignon blanc grape seeds. Lavender and blue chamomile sooth sensitive skin.
This product takes on the hot cloth cleansing method, which got me all excited as I enjoy using my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish quite a bit!
The Grapeseed Butter Cleanser comes housed in a glass tub that looks and feels fresh, green and luxurious. Inside the tub reveals a solid block of yellow-coloured balm and its scent takes me back to Aix-en-Provence where I used to stop and sniff the lavenders, literally. Poor boyfriend had to drag me along or I would have stayed there all day. The cleanser isn’t completely lavender scented, but my nose always picks up lavender notes, not so much of anything else! :s
But I digress. I usually use this product at night because that’s when I can pamper myself a little more! Even on nights when I’m not using this product I keep it by my bedside table just to get a whiff of it. That’s how much I’m addicted to the scent.
The texture of the product is balmy, and I only ever use this much for my face because it does have a lot of slip and having too much product on would mean I have to rub my skin more to get everything off.
I love this product as it feels so luxurious as I spread it all over my face, massaging it ever so gently into the skin. When I do this, I can see my foundation simply coming off as I work the product all over my skin.
After massaging for say 30 seconds, I leave it to sit on my face for a little while as I wring my muslin cloth in a bowl of hot water. Not the scalding kind but hot enough to make me jump a little, and turn my hands red as I swish the cloth in the water.
I then wring the cloth dry and place the now warm cloth onto the face, gently wiping the cleanser as the cloth mildly exfoliates my skin.
I repeat this two-to three times as I am no fan of having oily residue left on my skin. Of course, I follow up with another cleanser after performing this ritual, as I would like to call it. =p
This is such a beautiful product. However, one needs time to be able to fully appreciate the soothing quality of this amazing cleanser.
