Okay, it actually says Deep Pore Daily Cleanser on the tube but my sensitive skin says it’s a scrub! My skin has been playing up since coming home (drastic change in weather, perhaps) and I have been nicking my brother’s skin care products. This cleanser is permanently placed in the bathroom upstairs so I only use this at night before I go to bed.
Kiehl’s Rare Earth range claims to minimize pores. Amazonian Clay, one of the key ingredients in the range is known to absorb oil and all that nasty gunk that clogs up our pores. As mentioned on the tube, it exfoliates and detoxifies and this sure does live up to its claims!
To my surprise, the Amazonian Clay particles in the cleanser are rather tiny but ‘scrubby’ enough, if you get the gist. This cleanser does not foam very much but only a tiny bit is needed for it spreads out easily. The first time I tried this, I used a ‘generous amount’ as recommended by the directions but I found the particles too rough for my liking and it felt more like a scrub instead of a cleanser! Also, this cleanser left my combination / dry skin feeling tight and slightly uncomfortable.
I have since resorted to using this as a scrub as I like non-abrasive scrubs which is why I placed this cleanser under my Scrubbing Diaries label. =)
This cleanser is perfect for those who suffer from oily, congested skin as I noticed the blackheads on my nose seemed less evident after weeks of using this cleanser. I use this every other day and only focus on my nose as my dry cheeks do not seem to like the product very much. =(
If you have combination skin like mine, I would recommend you use this as a scrub and not as a daily cleanser as without doubt, the clay will strip the skin’s oils and leave you feeling barren. =D
