I have a confession to make. I can never travel light. What’s with these budget airlines, limiting our cabin luggage’s weight and the liquid restrictions really wind me up all the time! This is because I don’t really like decanting my products or wasting money getting travel-sized products.
As such, I love weekend getaways (locally) where I can bring as many products as I like, full-sized or not as there’s no weight restriction whatsoever.
Oh I should probably add that if I get on the Eurostar there’s no luggage / liquid limit either but I haven’t taken the Eurostar as Ryanair / Easyjet always works out cheaper =p
I thought I’d show you how many products I carry in just a weekend trip, bearing in mind I share this with the boyfriend 😉
Let’s start with what’s in the shower, shall we?
1. Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo for Sensitive Scalp.
We actually bought this at Boots in Torquay because my scalp was acting up again and was feeling extremely uncomfortable so we decided to ditch the Paul Mitchell shampoo at home and get a Neutrogena one with my Advantage Points 🙂
2. Clarins Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel
This gel cleanser is fast becoming a favourite of mine! I got this free when I purchased the moisturizer but I feel it’s slightly pricey at £10.50 for 75ml.
3. Biotherm Lait De Douche Cleansing Shower Milk
Got this as a GWP when we purchased Biotherm during Christmas and I love how moisturizing it is! Sadly I will not be repurchasing as it’s beyond my budget and I have a lot of free shower gels to go through :p
4. Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Conditioner
This conditoner is amazing. The scent reminds me of my much loved Wellazid Conditioner and this does make my hair feel lovely! I never need to brush / comb my hair because I don’t really need to =p (actually I should but I’m the laziest person in the world hehe)
Let’s move on to skin care products, are you ready?
Lo and behold!! =p
1. L’occitane Shea Butter Body Lotion
I much prefer this to the body cream where it’s really thick and greasy but this feels just right, absorbs quickly and leaves your skin lightly scented and feeling soft!
2. Biotherm Celluli Laser Intensive Night Serum
Erm, this one’s meant to target my cellulite but I didn’t use it because I’m too lazy for my own good =p furthermore my heat rash was really acting up so I didn’t want to use any new products in case it agitates the rash any further.
3. Perspirex anti-perspirant
This stuff’s amazing. Apply it at night and you go without sweaty (or even stinky) underarms for the next couple of days!
4. Biotherm Skin Vivo Yeux (Eye Cream)
It’s my first time trying this out and I really like it because it comes in the form of a gel. I like any gel-textured products anyway but I suppose the tube’s too small for me to tell if it really plumps your skin up, as mentioned in the website.
5. Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2
The boyfriend uses this as an astringent after, um, picking his blackheads LOL! I can’t use this as it’s too strong for my skin.
6. Kiehls Calendula Toner
I soak a cotton pad filled with this and leave it on the spot-prone areas on my face! Like the Clinique lotion I can’t use this all over my face as it’s way too drying for my skin.
7. Clarins Daily Energizer Wake-Up Booster
I’ve been using this product for about 2 weeks now and I really quite like it, simply because my skin hasn’t reacted to it yet *touches wood*
8. Biotherm Aqua Source Gel Moisturizer
My to-go moisturizer when my skin’s not suffering from any breakouts because this seems to sting my face when I’m suffering from a break out and I’m guessing this is due to the high alcohol content in the moisturizer.
9. Clinique’s Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
My favourite gel moisturizer although using it alone isn’t enough! I usually use this on top of my usual moisturizer before sunscreen during winter as it keeps my skin moisturized. I just use this as a moisturizer during summer as my skin turns into an oil slick during warmer weather.
I carry this with me (only the night version) just to blast off the remaining zits. This is a godsend if you, like me are suffering from a sudden breakout.
11. Clarins UV Plus HP Teinted Version SPF 40 PA+++
I share this with the boyfriend who likes using this so much that he’s practically nicked it from me 🙂
12. Kose Medicated Sekkisei Sun Protector SPF 50+ PA+++
My current fav! I first bought this on Adam Beauty because it was on offer where I paid about USD20 for it, which worked out cheaper than Shiseido’s Anessa range which I was itching to try. I’m really glad I did because this sunscreen does not dry to a matte finish (unlike Clarins) but leaves your skin feeling comfortable without any greasiness. For someone whose skin turns into an oil slick in summer, I still prefer this over the Clarins one because the Clarins version leaves a whitish cast on my skin and this one doesn’t!
13. Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips
I’ll confess, I only bought this just to take advantage of one of Clinique’s many Bonus Time events! I brought the full-sized bottle with me because I didn’t want to open the travel-sized one (goodness knows how many I own thanks to all of their generous GWPs) and this only has a 6-month lifespan once opened so I figured it wouldn’t add too much weight should I carry the full-sized bottle =p
Moving on to make up….
Clockwise Starting from Bourjois Healthy Mix:
My favourite foundation other than that expensive Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua one of mine! I’m not very good with blending foundations so they sometimes look cakey on me but this is just amazing. Perfect for people who aren’t very good with their hands (me)
2. Bourjois Bio-Detox Organic Concealer in Shade 52
Yes the bf got the concealer in one shade darker! He actually purchased this with the Bio-Detox Foundation (also in 52) as he thinks it’s summer and I should tan a little. Thankfully it’s only very slightly darker so all’s good =)
3. Urban Decay’s Eyelid Primer
Everyone has this and everyone says this is amazing stuff. I’ve had this tube for quite a long time now… So long that the purple paint is flaking all over my fingers when I use it. I haven’t used any other eyelid primer before so I can’t comment on which is better. Hanny’s done an amazing eyelid primer showdown so do check her post out! =)
4. Lancome Hypnose Mascara
I’m not too fussy when it comes to mascaras…. As long as they do not smudge or flake on me I’m quite happy. I have accepted the fact that my long straight lashes will never ever hold a curl =(
5. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers
I’ve owned this for two years now (changed the rubber pads once) and they are my favourite because I do not clip my eyelids with this one. Trust me, I’m the worst person when it comes to curling my eyelashes because I’m the clumsiest person in the world. This is the only one that does the job without me going blind.
6. Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder in 01 Stay Buff (VF)
Again, this was bought because I wanted the Bonus Time GWP really badly but it does what it says! Sets my foundation and doesn’t cake up!
I love them both. Rose Quartz has been used nearly everyday (even though I don’t use foundation) just for nicely flushed cheeks and Crystal Pink is used as a highlighter. Amazing products and I do not regret purchasing them. =)
8. Guerlain Meteorites Perles in 01 Teint Rose
I bought this when I had a £15 beauty voucher from Fenwick’s (which really helped to bring the price down) and also Paris B has been singing so many praises of this magic powder… that I caved in. :s All I can say is that I will never ever be without this product anymore and that I’m a convert =p Thank you, Paris! 😉
9. Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadows in 08 (Beige Rose), 54 (Marron glace) and 74 (Brun Sompteux)
Lovely, cute and pigmented little pots of neutral eyeshadows!
Oops! I didn’t realize this would be such a lengthy post
