I’ve grown up wearing quite a few hand-me-downs from my cousins, one of the perks of being one of the youngest amongst my elder cousins! Growing up, my parents would bring me to this secondhand bookshop market in Penang (sorry I can’t remember the name but I know it’s above a wet market) where I would buy all of my Enid Blyton books (think Famous Five, Secret Seven etc) for about RM0.20 each. Then there’s Amcorp Mall’s (Taman Jaya, PJ) famous Sunday flea market where there are loads of bargains to be had… I used to buy a few old broken watches from random sellers and Dad would then get them repaired! Once repaired, I get a brand new (albeit old) watch to wear!
Lately, a few of the blogs I read have been hosting blog sales where they get rid of their unwanted make-up in order to make room for more new ones! I don’t know what the major consensus is but I personally wouldn’t purchase a used lipstick due to hygiene concerns but would purchase stuff like foundation (liquid) as the entire product did not come into contact with its previous owner. I also wouldn’t touch skin care products (especially if its housed in a tub!) as you won’t know if the previous owner sticks her fingers straight into the pot!
I’m okay with powder products as I can always sanitise them with alcohol before using them.. =p If you haven’t guessed already, yes I have purchased a few products from not one, but three blog sales… Now to wait for them to arrive at their new home! =D
